What we do

The whole boundary, from posts to automation

Fence, driveway gate and pedestrian gate in one go, all matching, all the same colour and all done in one visit.

Fencing

Posts concreted in, panels stepped or raked properly on a slope.

  • Green plastic coated wire mesh
  • Welded mesh panels, 2D and 3D
  • Closeboard, picket and composite
  • Gabion walls

Sliding and swing gates

Cantilever sliding gates and pairs of swing gates, made to the opening.

  • Cantilever, so no track across the drive
  • Infills in board, mesh or timber
  • Openings from 3 to 8 metres
  • Matching pedestrian gates

Gate automation

A gate that opens from the car or the phone, set up with the safety devices the standard actually requires.

  • Nice, BFT and Somfy motors
  • Handsets and keypads
  • Safety photocells and a warning beacon
  • App control from your phone

Pedestrian gates

Single gates with a proper lock, an electric release and a bell.

  • Electric locks and video doorbells
  • Self-closers
  • Post boxes built into the fence
  • Level thresholds

Metalwork

Our own workshop, so awkward one-off pieces get made rather than refused.

  • Wrought and one-off infills
  • Handles, hinges and locks
  • Thresholds and drive-over plates
  • Repairs to old gates

Servicing and repairs

We will happily look at something somebody else fitted — adjust the motor, change the batteries, straighten the gate.

  • Annual checks on gate motors
  • Worn parts replaced
  • Wire re-strained and posts straightened
  • Rust treatment and repainting
How it works

From the first call to the last post

No confusion and no extra invoice at the end. You get the price and the date in writing.

Enquiry and survey

Ring or fill in the form. We come back within 48 hours and arrange to come and measure up, free.

The quote

A clear price with a couple of material options, and an explanation of what the difference actually buys you.

Fitting

Materials delivered, posts concreted, fence and gate up. A typical house takes two to four days.

Handover and guarantee

We show you how the gate works, take the spoil away and leave you the guarantee. Five years on the fitting.

Our work

A few we have put up

Over a thousand metres a year across Warwickshire and into Northamptonshire. Here are a few from recent seasons.

Why Southgate

Work you can actually rely on

We are not a materials merchant with a website. We are the people who will be digging the holes, and we stand behind it.

The fitting team concreting fence posts in a garden

Our own fitting team

No subcontractors picked up that morning. The same team from the survey to the handover, and you will know their names.

5 year guarantee on the fitting

The concreting, the straining and the gate hanging are all guaranteed in writing. If something moves, we come back and sort it.

Dates we keep

You get the start date in writing and we turn up on it. You know when it starts and when it is finished.

A price with no surprises

Materials, postcrete, delivery and taking the old fence away are all in the quote. Nothing gets added at the end.

What to expect

Three things worth asking about

Ours are on this page. Ask the next firm the same questions.

Who owns the boundary? The deeds say, and it matters — you cannot legally build on next door’s side of it. We check the plan before anything is dug, and we will happily talk to the neighbour.

How high can it be? Two metres at the back, one metre where it fronts a highway, unless you have planning permission. Listed buildings and conservation areas are stricter again.

What is under the line? Water, gas and electric all run across gardens. We scan the run before the auger goes in, which is cheaper than the alternative.

Thinking about the boundary?

Send us the run in metres, or just a rough sketch of the plot. We come back with a price within two working days.
