What we fit

Stoves and fireplaces built for the room

From a freestanding wood burner to a whole fireplace rebuilt in an old inglenook. Sized for the room, so it warms it rather than roasting you out.

From the first drawing to the yearly sweep

You do not need three firms and a project manager. The survey, the stove, the liner, the fitting, the certificate and the annual sweep all come from us.

Survey and drawings

We come out, measure the room and the chimney, work out the kW you actually need and show you what it will look like before anything is ordered.

HETAS installation

Fitted by HETAS registered installers to Building Regulations Part J. Hearth, liner, CO alarm and a certificate notified to Building Control — no council application for you to make.

Chimney work

Lining with 904 grade flexible liner, twin wall systems where there is no chimney, and smoke testing before anything is signed off.

Sweeping and certificates

Annual sweeping and a certificate your insurer will accept. Done by our own sweep, so you are not chasing a third party in October.

Servicing and spares

Rope seals, fire bricks, glass and baffle plates. We hold parts for the common makes and will happily service a stove somebody else fitted.

Smoke control areas

Much of the town is a smoke control area, which changes what you are allowed to fit and burn. We check your address before we quote, not after.

Why Ravenstone

Work that will still be right in 2050

A stove is not a seasonal purchase. We fit them to last decades and to stay safe for all of it.

1

A local firm, not a franchise

The person who surveys the job is the person who fits it. You will know their name and they will still be answering the phone next winter.

2

Our own sweep, in-house

The sweeping and the certificate come from us, so you are not ringing round in September trying to find somebody before the cold comes.

3

Materials that last

904 grade liner rather than the cheaper 316, proper vermiculite bricks and twin wall from names that will honour the warranty.

4

A fixed price, first

The quote is in writing and it holds. Liner, hearth, CO alarm, certificate and making good are all in it.

5

We clear up after ourselves

Dust sheets down, rubble taken away, and we light it with you before we go so you know how it runs.

6

5 year guarantee on our work

Five years on the installation, and we are still here after that for rope seals, glass and the annual service.

What to expect

Three things to ask any installer

Ours are on this page. Ask the next firm the same questions.

Are you HETAS registered, and what is the number? A registered installer certifies the work and notifies Building Control themselves. Without that you have to apply to the council and pay for an inspection.

Is my address in a smoke control area? If it is, only a DEFRA exempt appliance is legal and burning the wrong fuel is an offence. That gets checked before you are quoted, not after it is fitted.

What grade of liner is in the price? 316 grade is cheaper and fine for seasoned wood only. 904 costs more and copes with anything. A quote that does not say which one is not a quote.
