Three things to check at any club
They take a minute to ask and they tell you more than a testimonial.
Ask whether the club is LTA registered. Registration means the venue is inspected, insured and inside the national safeguarding framework. It is also what gets you into county leagues and LTA tournaments.
Ask what accreditation the coaches hold. LTA Accredited and LTA Accredited+ are qualifications with a licence behind them, renewed every year. Anyone coaching children should also hold a current DBS check, and will not mind being asked.
Ask what happens when it rains. Artificial grass and acrylic drain and play through most of a British winter. Real clay does not. Ask how many days last year the courts were actually shut.
