Choosing the fabric

We bring the sample books to you, or you come to the workshop — over 300 fabrics, leathers and velvets.

Collection and the work

We collect the piece — free around Louth — and it gets its shape and its comfort back in the workshop.

Back through your door

We bring it back and put it where it goes. A usual job takes two to three weeks.

Two year guarantee

Two years on the workmanship. That is not a favour, it is what the work should be worth.

What to expect

Three things worth asking any upholsterer

Ask what happens under the cover. New fabric over tired webbing and collapsed foam looks well for a year and then sits the same way it did before. We say in the quote what is being replaced.
Ask about the rub test. Fabric is rated for how much wear it takes. A velvet meant for a bedroom chair will not survive a family sofa, and the number is on the sample.
Ask about fire labels. Anything re-upholstered for a home has to meet the furniture fire regulations. We use rated fabric and interliners, and the piece comes back with the label on it.

Common questions

What people ask first

Is it worth re-upholstering, or should I just buy new?
On a good hardwood frame or anything old, almost always — you keep a frame nobody builds at that price any more, and you get exactly the fabric you want. On flat-pack, we will tell you straight in the quote that it is not worth it.
How long does it take?
A chair, a set of dining chairs or a two-seater is usually two to three weeks from the go-ahead. Bigger suites and made-to-measure depend on the bench — the date is always in the quote.
Can I supply my own fabric?
Yes. We would rather look at it first and say whether it will stand the wear on that piece — but working with your own fabric is no trouble.
Do you collect and deliver?
Yes. Free around Louth, and a small charge further out across Lincolnshire depending on the distance. You do not have to arrange anything.
