Plain English, because a website for a small firm shouldn’t need a solicitor to order one.

I work remotely — that’s why the prices look like they do. I’m not registered for VAT, so nothing gets added to the figures I quote.
The mock-up is free
I’ll build a first version of your site before you’ve paid anything or signed anything. If you don’t want it, you say so and we’re done — you owe me nothing and I won’t chase you.
Price and payment
I tell you the exact price before I start work, and it doesn’t move unless you ask for something that wasn’t in what we agreed — and then I’ll tell you the new price before I do it. No deposit. You pay once the finished site is approved, within the time stated on the invoice.
The site is yours
Once it’s paid for, the site is yours: the files, the words, the images I made for it, and the domain. There’s no subscription needed to keep it online and you’re not tied to me. If you want to move it elsewhere, I’ll hand it over ready to go.
Things I licensed from someone else — a stock photo, a typeface — come with whatever licence they came with. I’ll tell you if any of that applies to your site.
What you need to give me
The information about your business, and any photos or logos you want used. By sending them you’re confirming you’re allowed to use them. If something turns out not to be yours to use, I’ll take it down as soon as you tell me.
Showing your site as an example
I may show a finished site as an example of my work. Tell me you’d rather I didn’t and I won’t.
What I can’t promise
I’ll build you a site that works properly and loads quickly. I can’t promise a particular position on Google or a particular number of enquiries — nobody honestly can. If something on the site is broken, tell me and I’ll fix it.
Hosting
If the site runs on my hosting, that’s billed yearly and covers hosting, the domain, the security certificate, backups and monitoring. You can leave at any time and take the site and the domain with you.
If something goes wrong
Email me first — most things get sorted in a day. Your legal rights aren’t affected by anything on this page.
