Three questions, usually on a phone, usually in under a minute. A site that answers them wins the job before anyone else is even rung.

Is your setting-out any good?
Corners, cuts around sockets, where the tile meets the bath. People who’ve had a bad job done know exactly where to look.

Do you do wet rooms?
Tanking and wet rooms are a different skill and a different price. Say whether you do them.

Can you work with underfloor heating?
Increasingly the reason someone is retiling at all. Worth naming.

- Bathrooms, kitchens and floors kept separate, they’re different searches
- Wet rooms and tanking, if you do them, said plainly
- Underfloor heating, and whether you install or just tile over
- Large-format and natural stone, if you handle them
- Rough price per square metre, and what a small awkward room really costs
